Ballinderry Rivers Trust

Ballinderry Rivers Trust is dedicated to the conservation of the Ballinderry River, its freshwater species and habitats, its fisheries and the education and empowerment of the catchment community in the protection of the river.

Butterfly Conservation Northern Ireland

Butterfly Conservation is a UK wide charity which aims to conserve butterflies, moths and the environment. Butterflies and moths are excellent indicators of the health of the environment as they react very quickly to changes in their surroundings. Butterfly Conservation works with Government Agencies, local councils, interest groups and individuals to increase awareness and appreciation of these fragile creatures. Here in the Sperrins we work with local councils and landscape partnerships such as the Sperrins Gateway Landscape Partnership and Carntogher Community Association’s Envision project. We are creating opportunities for training in identification, survey techniques and specific monitoring of special butterfly and moth species in the area.

The Geological Survey of Northern Ireland (GSNI) provides geoscience information and services to inform decision making.

Hedge Laying Association of Ireland

The HLAI was founded in 2004 by a group of hedge layers and other interested individuals. It's aims and objectives are: - To encourage and facilitate the conservation, protection and appropriate management of hedgerows - To promote the craft and profession of hedge laying - To encourage and facilitate landowners in the management of hedges by laying, where appropriate - To encourage and train people in the craft of hedge laying - To establish, maintain and promote recognised standards of craftsmanship in hedge laying - To research and document the tradition of hedge laying in Ireland

Incredible Edible Network

The Incredible Edible network is an umbrella group for members who believe that providing public access to healthy, local food can enrich their communities. Everyone of the 200 plus global groups is different but typically their work involves setting up community growing plots, reaching out to schools and children, and backing local food suppliers.

Kilcronaghan Centre

Kilcronaghan Centre is nestled at the foot of the Sperrin Mountains, surrounded by beautiful landscapes, making it an ideal location for groups or individuals to meet, relax and explore the wonderful countryside.

Mid-Ulster Biodiversity Project

The Mid Ulster Biodiversity Project incorporates the Cookstown, Dungannon and Magherafelt Council areas. The project falls into 3 stages: 1. Biodiversity audit of what habitats and species are in the Mid Ulster area. 2. Habitat and Species Assessments and Action Plans 3. On the ground project implementation.

Mid-Ulster Photography Club

We are a cross-community photography club, and anyone with an interest in photography is welcome to join our club. We meet every other Tuesday in the Harbour Building at the Ballyronan Marina. Our meetings start at 8.00pm. We are working with Sperrins Gateway to look at the photographic recording of the area. For information email: secretary@midulsterphotographyclub.com

Moyola Angling Association

The Moyola Angling Association is the only club situated along the river Moyola, which is regarded as one of Northern Ireland's premier salmon and dollaghan (Lough Neagh trout) rivers, and also boasts healthy stocks of native brown trout.

Network Personnel

Network Personnel deliver training and employment initiatives throughout Northern Ireland. We specialise in helping unemployed individuals return to work. If you would like to refresh your skills or obtain a qualification Network Personnel can help you take that first step. Network Personnel deliver a number of employment programmes to help people return to work. These are available to those who are claiming benefits such as Job Seekers Allowance. We can also help those who do not claim benefits but who are unemployed.

The RSPB Northern Ireland

The beautiful landscapes and habitats of Northern Ireland are home to some fantastic wildlife. You can soak up views of waterbirds, barn owls, red squirrels and maybe a pine marten at some of our nature reserves. We can guarantee you a scenic walk at all of them. If you look up, you might see a red kite soaring overhead – we're bringing these majestic birds of prey back to our skies as part of our work in Northern Ireland.

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. The Trust’s vision is to see a country rich in native woods and trees, enjoyed and valued by everyone. We care for over 1,000 woods right throughout the UK, including 49 woods here in Northern Ireland. Our aims are to: 1. Work with others to plant more native trees 2. The Workspace Group

Workspace was initially established in 1985 to stimulate social and economic regeneration in the Mid Ulster area by providing enterprise units, business support services and employability initiatives from its base in Draperstown and is now regarded as one of Northern Ireland’s leading social enterprises. The Workspace Group currently provide property, workspace and support services for business and are involved through subsidiary companies in recruitment; training and employment; energy efficiency and insulation; heat recovery; childcare; and recreation/leisure.

Big Lottery Project: Living & Learning Together

The Project aims to increase learning opportunities and provide well being activities across Magherafelt and Antrim, enabling the project to develop interventions that have the twin objectives of enabling people to have the opportunity to achieve their full potential at the same time as improving their physical and mental health. The project is led by a steering committee whose aim is to ‘‘To build a learning community that will have health and education benefits for all in Magherafelt and Antrim’’. Courses are organised across Magherafelt and Antrim council areas and are provided free of charge, details on all courses / activities available through the project are on the project website.

Queen's University Belfast - Open Learning

From Spanish to Wine tasting, Creative Writing to Travel, World Literature to Visual Arts, there is a course for everyone in the Queen's University's Open Learning Programme. These part-time courses are open to all adults regardless of qualifications or experience and are offered during the day, evenings and the weekends. We offer 3 programmes each academic year: Autumn, New Year and Spring.

Lissan House is an enchanting country residence set within a 250 acre demesne of ancient woodland and forestry. The estate was created in the 17th century and remained the home of the Staples family for nearly 400 years, reputedly the longest habitation by any single family of a country house in West Ulster.
